We are small scale manufacturers of Wide Pine and Hardwood Flooring in Southern Vermont. Located just past the Stratton Mountain access road in Bondville / Jamaica. Owner Peter Heyniger has been working in the industry for over 20 years. Trained as a furniture maker and evolved to manufacturing flooring, Peter can often be found in the woods, searching for old lombard steam log haulers, or taking note of forest changes, working with local Saw Mills, or most likely milling your flooring! We take pride in every flooring order, milling each to customers specifications. We have designed a grade of flooring called Rustic, or Country, and we feel it fits perfect into a house, cabin or work place. This grade of flooring allows for small character marks revealing the natural beauty of the species

You could dream all day of the history of Logging and the Forest with Peter, it is a special interest of his and you might even find him out in the woods of Maine looking for some of the remainders of these Lombard Steam Log Haulers. It is truly fascinating to see the pictures and read about how things worked back then.
Lombard Steam Log Hauler

National historic mechanical engineering landmark
Lombard Steam Log Hauler C. 1910
This steam crawler-tractor emancipated horses from the killing work of hauling trains of sleds over iced roads in the winter woods of the United States and Canada. Designed, patented (1901)‚ and built by Alvin C. Lombard (1856-1937) of Waterville, Maine, eighty-three “Lombards” were the first practical examples of the often-tried lag or crawler tread that would become the mark of the internal combustion engine driven agricultural and construction equipment and military tanks in current use.
