Sawn from carefully selected timber, The Flooring Mill picks particular boards to meet its strict standard of heartwood grading. We mill our flooring into tongue and groove, ship lap, or square edge, depending on width and customer specifications. For a stable and long lasting floor, it is essential that the lumber be properly dried and acclimated to its environment prior to instillation. First air dried, then kiln dried to a moisture content between 6% and 8%, this process makes certain the boards dry slowly in a controlled environment to produce flat, stress free lumber. Lastly, the flooring is stickered in the space where it is to be installed for a final acclimation period.

PINE:
We purchase select grades of Eastern White Pine from local sawmills that have access to high quality timber. All of our lumber is properly dried to ensure a long lasting, beautiful, stable floor. Wide Pine flooring is generally milled square edge; however, we can mill a ship lap edge. Wide Pine should be face nailed or screwed.
Rustic Pine
Our Premium Grade pine floors are carefully selected boards with a few small tight red knots. Choose our Premium Grade for a more refined appearance, or for any restoration project. Our most popular Rustic Grade pine floor is a perfect finishing touch to your timber frame or barn style project. We allow larger and more numerous tight red knots and character marks.
We also offer Hand Hewn Pine Flooring, an excellent alternative to antique lumber. Available as an extra service on any of our pine flooring. Includes hand planning one face and slightly chamfered edges.
A Barn Style Hit or Miss has a classic antique look. This style is knotty pine with random circular saw marks and slightly chamfered edges adding a rustic character to each board.

HARDWOOD
For a durable and formal look we offer wide plank flooring in the traditional hardwoods. Our Hardwood is milled from top grade lumber, and is properly kiln dried to make certain there is minimal shrinkage. All hardwood flooring is milled perfectly straight and flat for easy installation and has a stress relieved bottom.

Our Clear Grade premium boards are milled from top grade FAS clear lumber. Choose this clear grade for a more formal looking floor. These boards do not contain knots, just the beauty of the heartwood. Our Country Grade has character and shows a few well placed solid small knots, mineral streaks, and color variations. Our Rustic Grade floors have the wide plank country look of Pine, yet with the long lasting durability of a traditional hardwood.
